La Barbe

Family owned French restaurant that also manage the fantastic La Tutu L’Auberge in South Godstone, the food is exceptional with a really nice ambience. Occasional French musicians play (or English in stripy tops and onions), celebrations and theme nights are occasionally held here.
Established in 1982, La Barbe has recently celebrated it's 20th anniversaire. Great celebrations were had and rent a celebrity Edwina Curry was guest of honour at one of their celebrations. There you go, she's gone now so it's safe to go in.
The considerate service is what you expect in this upmarket restaurant but the food is slightly pricey, so check out the menu first before you make promises about buying the whole meal for friends.
Highly recommended. Oh, and nice

I had a meal last week, which was the third I have enjoyed. Although the service was good the main course and desert were average, pre cooked pork and a stale yule log, french style.

Not much choice for veggies, especially in the Xmas menu, although if you like Stuffed Aubergines you'll be OK!!
